-Emma

Hi,
I am sorry to hear that Tech City's management is still being so unreasonable. Good luck in your action this week - your past action and recent strikes at schools like Alfreton Grange show that if you are determined to fight, you can and will win, and I am sure you will again!

Solidarity,

Kieran Picken
Assistant Secretary
City of Derby NUT

Hi,
I am a teacher who has been forced out of the job due to stress and workload.  I taught for 28 years. I think it’s brilliant that you are taking action against performance management, pay progression and inspections.
Please let me know what I can do to help.
All the best in solidarity
Eleanor Woyen

Again, from all of us at Gateway SFC, Leicester, we support you in your
principled stand against the outrageous opportunistic attitude of your
management team over negotiations. A union is, indeed, a union of all
members and it is uplifting to hear that you are sticking together in
support of every single member. Only two years ago, we had 5 days of strike
action before our SLT caved in to all of our demands about observations.

Keep up your action and you will win!

From all 62 comrades at Gateway.

Alan Murray

(Joint NUT Rep)

Hi, we are sending solidarity greetings from Lambeth NUT for your strike next week. You have show great courage and strength in doing what is not easy and organising a strike  in a school. It is difficult to take on Headteachers and governors, but you do it on behalf of all teachers who are facing a regime of lesson observations and pay restrictions that are driving so many teachers out of the profession. We will spread the message to our members of your principled stand and look forward to you winning better  working conditions. We always remember that the teachers'working conditions are the students' learning conditions. Good luck.

More power to you all: your determination not to be bullied or sold any package short of what you deserve, is an inspiration to all of us. You are winning, as the ‘concessions’ (even those that are withdrawn) show.

I have nothing but admiration for you all.

Dear fellow teachers,

We were shocked but unfortunately not surprised to hear how you are being treated by the management at your school. It is a complete disgrace that individuals who claim that they are working in the interests of young people could create working conditions that are so unsafe and damaging to the whole school community.

We commend you for your brave action in taking serious strike action and we are very confident you will win as you did before over the struggle to get union recognition. We recently had to wage a struggle at our school over a similar uncaring and ruthless approach to managing staff and students at our school and we won after two days of action, although we had another two planned and were prepared to take as many days as it took to get our dignity and respect back.

Is there anything we can do practically to help? We will try and get up for your pickets (some part-time staff may be able to visit) and we can visit after school if you are planning any public events. We will spread the word of your strike.

Solidarity forever and keep going - you are doing the right thing!

Many thanks,

Kirstie on behalf of The John Roan NUT

Just to say from one teacher to another may the force be with you. Keep fighting to protect your jobs, working conditions, and the safe and happy learning environment for your wonderful students. You are worth it and so are they. Logic and morality are on your side.

To all NUT colleagues STEM 6 / Tech city,

Stay solid in your stand against ridiculous stress, workload and management inadequacies. Don't let them boss you about and stick to your guns.

Make them negotiate and get your message to the local community and parents

That's what we did at The John Roan in Greenwich, and we got policies and working practices changed thanks to the hard work of Martin Powell Davies and Kirstie Paton our school rep.

Unity is what makes you strong.

Good luck in your struggle,

Neil Townsend NUT member at The John Roan

Dear Tech City teachers - I would like to send you my support at taking action against the unfair, unreasonable policies which your SMT are imposing upon you.  I am a member of the John Roan school in Greenwich and we recently took strike action over similar unreasonable policies being introduced by our new Headteacher.  I am so proud that our strong NUT group were resolute in taking the action so that the school was effectively closed on 2 days and we were prepared to take more days of action but with mediation from the Head of Children’s Services our Headteacher, Chair of Governors and SLT did finally negotiate and we now have policies we feel we can work with.  So stay strong, take your action and be proud that you are standing together for your own wellbeing and professionalism and for the good of the students in your school.
Strength in Unity, Siobhan McCauley, SENCo.  NUT member at The John Roan School, Greenwich.

Solidarity greetings from Croydon NUT for your strike next week on PM, observations and pay.

The action you took last year on recognition was referenced by Croydon NUT officers at the consultation meeting for the proposed STEM at South Norwood Police Station.

Along with hostile comments from the local community we were able to chase them out of our borough.

Every success for your action.

Dave Harvey

Croydon NUT secretary
