Say no to billions in cuts - demonstration on 20th October

Join Islington Teachers on a demonstration against public sector cuts, which is being held in London on Wednesday 20th October.

The demonstration is being organised to defend our welfare state and protest against the Coalition Government's plans to make massive cuts to the public sector budget. The effects of these cuts are already apparent - many centrally employed teachers have been told their jobs are to go, our pay is to be frozen and our pensions are under attack.

Many NUT divisions in London are supporting the demonstration, which is timed to coincide with the Government's Comprehensive Spending Review announcement.

A rally will assemble at Lincoln's Inn Fields (nearest tube Holborn) at 4:30pm with a march to Whitehall starting at 5:30pm and arriving at Downing Street at 6:30pm. Speakers include Tony Benn and NUT Deputy General Secretary, Kevin Courtney.

A leaflet for the demonstration, including full details of the route for the march, can be found at http://www.teachers.org.uk/node/12053. If getting to the start of the rally is difficult please make your way straight to Downing Street.

This is a crucial time for public services. It is important that we show our solidarity at a time of such savage cuts. I hope you can join the 20th October demonstration.
