Moreland 10th March 2011

St Luke’s governors have voted not to take part in a merger but only a federation, if the terms are right, with each school retaining its separate identity.

This was the fall-back position I know our members adopted (and I believe support staff too) and which the NUT submitted to the consultation.

I think we can claim it as a victory for the joint union and parent community campaign!

Certainly the head of St Luke’s expressed the view at the joint staff and parents public meeting before Xmas that she was listening carefully to the overwhelming opposed views of Moreland parents and staff and would not want to go down the road of a forced merger.
